About Senna Angustifolia
Senna is a flowering plant that has been used for centuries to treat constipation and other digestive disorders.
Senna comes from the Arabic word “sinn” which means “a yellowish brown dye obtained from the leaves of the senna plant”. The leaves of this plant have been used as a laxative since ancient times, by Egyptians, Greeks, and Romans.
The active ingredient in senna is a glycoside called sennoside A. It stimulates peristalsis in the colon by increasing water content in stool and increasing its volume.
